The Governor’s office has sent a proposal to Senator Avakian to try to reach an agreement on amendments to SB 235 (currently they would be the -5 amendments for SB 235). These amendments would deal with Dairy CAFOs only and would substitute a Dairy CAFO task force appointed by the Governor and the Senate and House leadership for the mandatory rulemaking that is in the –A amendments that we support. A few weeks ago we deemed SB 235 a rollback if the current –A amendments are not part of the passed bill, and now the groups that are working on this issue are assessing the -5 amendments, but are concerned that they don’t go far enough.
A hearing and work session has been scheduled in the Natural Resources Subcommittee of Ways and Means tomorrow, Saturday, June 16, 9:00 am in H-174.
